26 Jul: #8 Off with the Old, On with the New (Eph 4:17 - 5:2)

Key Takeaways:

✝️ Our conversion begins with a renewed mind and our conviction continues with a renewed heart.

✝️ We are called to put off our old self which is corrupted by deceitful desires and to be made new in the attitudes of our minds, that we may be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

✝️ We are made in the image of Christ. Just like a mirror, the image is marred by sin. We are on a daily sanctification journey to restore that image ♥️

✝️ "Renewed" means that a new element, a divine element, is dispensed into our inner being. With the Holy Spirit in us, we gain insights into what this new self is. This is the framework by which our mind abides by. With this, we are transformed to be more Christ-like.

#1: Ask the Lord to guard and direct your mind

#2: Recognise the source of self-focused and self-defeating thoughts. (Recognise the enemy, and fight him with God's power and scriptural truth)

#3: Replace self-focused thinking with a God-focused mindset

#4: Rest in the truth that you are accepted in Christ

#5: Repeat step #1 - #4

💡 Which of these old ways of thinking and behaving do we need to work on?

💡 How can we take baby steps to imitate God?

🙏🏻 Praise God for how He acts towards us. Ask God to show us areas of thinking and behavior that are wrong and how we can change them, so we can imitate Him.
